BTEC Workskills (Level 2)
Employability skills are often cited as a barrier to successfully entering employment. At St David’s Centre we offer the Level 2 BTEC Workskills qualification to help equip learners with the essential skills required for success in the workplace and/or to progress in education.
It comprises a range of different learning opportunities to suit the needs and abilities of each individual learner, including personal life skills, employability skills, work placement skills and skills for business.
Learners combine units from across these pathways, enabling them to achieve either a:
- Level 2 Award, broadly equivalent to 0.25 of a GCSE at Grade B (either a 3, 6 or 9 credit Award)
- Level 2 Certificate, broadly equivalent to 1 GCSE at Grade B
As part of this, Year 10 learners focus on self-assessment and personal development. Year 11 learners focus on preparing for further education, including CV planning and preparing for college interviews. Year 11 learners also have the opportunity to participate in the Business Enterprise Programme which links closely with the national Young Enterprise initiative, empowering them to set in place a mini-business to harness their personal and business skills.
