PE

A sensitive approach is used in delivering a range of confidence and skills based lessons to pupils who have generally felt daunted by large group PE lessons. A strong emphasis is also given to the whole team ethos and sportsmanship.

Pupils receive rules and skills instruction in one or two major team sports per term (football, hockey, cricket and basketball). Pupils are encouraged to engage in a range of sports, both onsite and with other schools. Indoor and Outdoor resources are being continually added or updated so that all pupils can enjoy opportunities in this subject.

During recreation periods pupils receive recreational instruction and coaching to enhance the skills they are developing in their PE lessons.
We have a strong link with a local Sports Academy with regular PE curriculum meetings, discussing and implementing how we can continually develop and expand our PE syllabus.

The Centre has achieved the nationally awarded Sportsmark Certificate, awarded for ‘exceptional delivery within the PE and sport strategy’.

“There are an increasing number of opportunities for physical exercise both through the formal curriculum and informally at breaks and lunchtimes…”
