Students are taught practical cookery skills and food safety. They learn about different foods, healthy eating, the importance of a balanced diet and where our food comes from.
Students learn to follow recipes, weigh and measure accurately. They then go on to explore different flavours and develop their own recipes.
They learn different methods of cooking; learn about and cook food from different cultures, and we arrange trips to local farms.
We enter students for the Active Kids Cooking awards – nationally recognised and supported by Sainsbury’s, the Design and Technology Association and the British Nutrition Foundation.
Students regularly prepare food for school events; coffee mornings, fundraisers, Christmas dinner and more. Here they develop team working skills and learn about preparing food for others.
